How to Play

Fan Tan is one of the oldest gambling games in the world, originating in China centuries ago. The idea is beautifully simple: a random number of beads is counted out, divided into groups of four, and you bet on how many are left over — a remainder of 1, 2, 3, or 4. 1. Choose a number from 1 to 4. This is the remainder you're betting on when the bead count is divided by four.
2. Set your bet amount and place your Fan bet on your chosen number.
3. Optionally place additional bets: Kwok covers two adjacent numbers for 1:1 pay, Nga Tan covers two non-adjacent numbers also for 1:1, and Nim gives you a more complex split payout across two numbers.
4. The game calculates a random bead count and divides it by four.
5. If the remainder matches your Fan bet, you win 3:1 — three times your stake back plus your original bet.
6. Winning Kwok or Nga Tan bets pay even money. Nim pays based on the specific remainder outcome according to the Nim payout table.
